Every day, we give our most vulnerable neighbors somewhere to stay when they have nowhere to go
For many people, having a place to stay isn’t something they worry about a lot. Whether it’s because they grew up in a stable home, have good mental health, a supportive family, or for any number of reasons – they have always had somewhere to call home. But for some, keeping a roof over their head is a real struggle, and it’s a struggle that people sometimes lose. Whether it’s a single individual or an entire family, homelessness is a traumatic experience that can seem impossible to overcome.
In the words of one of our guests
“It was a relief that I had a place to go to sleep and eat. It’s very quiet here and very clean. The people working here were very nice – it was welcoming. House of Hope gave me hope, because I felt very hopeless. I could get back on my feet without being on the street. House of Hope was a pivotal point in changing my life. And I would love to help give back because it really helped me get to where I am today.” - C.J.
Homelessness is on the rise
As housing costs become increasingly more expensive, our economic climate is taking its toll on struggling families and individuals. This year, our nation has seen a startling increase in observed homelessness, and the same is true for our Danville area. In 2022, House of Hope served 219 people. Then, in 2023, that number increased to 385.
